Environment Protection

UAE celebrated the Third National Environment Day on 4/2/2000 under the slogan:

"The Nature Reserves Reward to a Bright Future."

Nature reserves in the UAE aim at the protection and development of environment resource and natural heritage by conserving a number of rare plants and animals such as seacows, falcons and bustards, sea turtles, Arabian leopard and Arabian oryx that are threatened to extinction.

The attempt of the UAE in the field of development of the wild life has been a pioneering attempt honoured and appreciated by the world. This remarkable conservation of environment has been achieved through the keen interest and care of His Highness, the President of the UAE.

Previous years have witnessed the establishment of various reserves in the UAE. The island reserve of Sir Bani Yas is considered one of the biggest reserves in the region in accordance to area and species diversity.
