The Telecommunications International Union is considered to be the oldest organization between the governments of all countries, which was established on 17/5/1865 as a result of signing the first international agreement for telegraph in Paris on the same date and so the International Union was 'established as a result to this agreement.
On 1947, the Union became one of the specialized organizations of the United Nations. The membership of the union now is 165 countries.
The aims of the union are: to keep the , international co-operation, spread such co-operation between the different countries, establishments and organizations. Provide the information in' order to promote the networks and the equipments capability which leads to the improvement of the telecommunications standard.
On 17/5/1991, the world celebrates the Telecommunications Day. This year, these festivals will be held under the symbol of "Telecommunications and the Safety of Human lives". The festivals of this year will come within the celebrations of the United Nations General Assembly for the- protection from natural disasters and lives safety.
