The Olympiad is known in ancient Greece as a periodical unit of four years which starts by the commencement of the Olympic Games. The first Olympiad was held in 776 B.C.

The first session of the Olympic Games held under the flag of the International Olympic Committee was held in Athens in 1897. 13 countries participated with 295 players. The Olympic Games continued session every four years in Paris, Saint Lewis, London, Stockholm, Antwerp, Paris, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Berlin, London, Helsinki, Melbourne, Rome, Tokyo, Mexico, Munich, Montreal, Moscow, Los Angeles and finally in Seoul.

After 20 years, since Asia for the first time received the Olympiad the Far East is once again receiving the 24th Olympic Games in Seoul of Korea. Seoul is a town which rapidly developed, in which you can see the Korean nature beauty, the oriental charm and the treasuries of five thousand years of culture and traditions.

For 16 days, from 17th of September to 2nd of October 1988, more than 23,000 players and officials of 161 countries of the International Olympic Committee, will participate in 23 games through the 24th Olympic Games -Seoul 1988.

The U.A.E. participates in 24th Olympic Games Seoul 1988 with two games of swimming and cycling in order to gain more experience to compete in the Gulf and Arab tournaments. Also, a delegation is participating to attend the meeting of the International Unions.
