The National Bank of Dubai Ltd. was the first local Bank to be established in the U.A.E. under a decree and commenced operations in Dubai on 9th May 1963 with a paid up Capital of Rupees 13,500,000.

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi was established under an Emiri Decree in February 1968.
