أولمبياد الشطرنج 27 - دبي

The World Chess history have a new record: the venue of the 27th Chess Olympiad -Dubai 86 the first event in its kind to be held in Dubai -United Arab Emirates,

The idea of the Olympiad was first conceived simultaneously with the establishment of the Federation Internationale Des Echecs (FIDE) in Paris 1924, and thus during the 6th Olympic Games. The first official Chess Olympiad was held in London in 1927, and after 59 years the Arab dream became reality and here is the UAE entrusted the organization of this huge chess manifestation.
FIDE is worldwide respected organization with 125 member federations representing most of the countries in the world. Among the 18 Arab countries Palestine was the first FIDE Arab member and its first participation in an Olympiad was in 1935. Later, Arab countries started joining FIDE.
UAE joined FIDE in 1977, and participated in 4 Chess Olympiads, and here they are organizing the 27th Chess Olympiad, a tangible proof of the development of chess in great strides, and of its wide spread among the UAE nationals, thanks to the UAE Chess Federation.
The 27th Chess Olympiad -Dubai 86 is expected to view the biggest regroupment of countries ever realised, this being due to the friendly links between the UAE and all the countries of the world.
The Supreme Organizing Committee did its best endeavour to pro- vide the Olympiad with the best administrative and technical facilities in order to make a success of this event, and to have participants staying in Dubai-UAE enjoy their sojourn and the hospitality and reception the Arab host shows to his guests.
