IDEX 95, held in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, from 19 to 23 March 1995, is one of the most important exhibitions in the international defence calendar. It is held every two years by the Military Committee for International Defence Exhibitions (CODEX), in coordination with the UAE Armed Forces and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and with the support of the UAE government. This year's exhibition stands out for the large area given to its events, estimated at 45,000 square metres, for the large number of the latest land and naval defence systems on show, for a firing range that is unique among exhibitors and visitors alike, and for a naval display area with berthing facilities for warships from around the world. It also stands out for the size of its participation, with 600 companies from 43 countries, which confirms the UAE's strategic position between East and West and the infrastructure it offers for such events, making IDEX 95 the most comprehensive land and naval exhibition in the world. Alongside IDEX 95, the MILCON 95 military conference will be held at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre, with a growing number of well-known speakers covering many aspects of defence technology and the defence industry.
