Message from the president

Since 1996 the association has brought the stamp collectors of the Emirates together. Today more than 700 members share one hobby, and many of them carry the name of the UAE to exhibitions around the world.

Our aim is simple: to keep the hobby alive for the next generation, to help every member exhibit with confidence, and to protect the postal history of our country. This website is part of that work, and I invite every collector, young or experienced, to join us.

History

The Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA) was established by Ministerial Decree No. 372 on 24 June 1996, to carry on the success philately has achieved in the United Arab Emirates.

It is run by a council elected for four years: a President, a Vice President, an Honorary Treasurer, an Honorary Secretary, the Chairman of the special committees and four committee members.

The association now counts more than 700 members, many of them at a level that lets them take part in international exhibitions. In a short time it has grown in philately locally, across the Arab world and internationally, through its lively part in exhibitions and activities and the effort of its members.

Objectives

To encourage and develop the hobby of stamp collecting, and to spread it by every lawful means.
To strengthen cooperation and acquaintance among stamp collectors in the UAE, and help them build relations that make exchanging and selling stamps easier.
To carry out research, prepare lectures and hold symposia and exhibitions on stamp collecting, in cooperation with the competent authorities.
To help set up stamp clubs in schools, institutes, universities and other clubs across the country.
To publish magazines and periodic bulletins on stamp collecting and distribute them inside and outside the country, with the approval of the competent authorities and under the laws in force.
To cooperate with Arab and international philatelic societies and clubs, after the approval of the competent authorities.
To provide a suitable library for members, for study, culture and general knowledge.
To hold social and cultural activities and develop other hobbies that encourage friendship among members.

EPA is the member of the International Federation of Philately (FIP) for the United Arab Emirates.
FIAP, Federation of Inter-Asian Philately
EPA is the UAE's member in the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP).
