The Oldest Pearl in the World Umm Al Quwain

The pearls discovered at Umm Al Quwain site 2 are the oldest known natural pearls, note only in the Arabian Gulf but the whole world. They belong to a kind of oyster which overfished, and its pearl are extra brilliant and translucent.

In 1993, the world's oldest natural pearl was discovered in Umm A Quwain site 2, UAE, by the researcher named Carl Philips. It is believed to have originated between (5000 and 5300 BC). In June 2012, it was named the “Pearl of the UAE” by Dubai Media Corporation. The world’s oldest pearl originated from level 10. The pearl has a circular shape and looks like a button, and it is 6.3mm in diameter.
